Hansville Landfill Periodic Review 2025

The Hansville Landfill (7791 NE Ecology Road, Kingston, WA) operated as a municipal landfill from 1962 until it closed in 1989. Since closure, the site has been maintained with a protective cap to keep rain from seeping in, a system that collects and treats landfill gas, and ongoing monitoring of groundwater.

 

Ecology conducts a review every five years to check that these cleanup measures remain effective, that safeguards are working as intended, and that the site continues to protect people’s health and the environment.
